September Snows
Yesterday was 85, today it's 33;
Summer isn't over yet, but Winter's been set free!
Feeling cold and restless as the time strikes 9 o'clock,
I hit upon the perfect plan: go out and take a walk!
I bundle up and don my shoes and set out up the hill;
My cheeks and nose soon redden from the unaccustomed chill.
A snowflake tickles as it trickles down my upturned face;
I reach the road and head uphill and set a steady pace.
My phone provides encouragement, announcing every mile,
And when I reach the summit I allow myself a smile.
Some folks may huddle in their rigs and mutter "do not like!"
But I know how to warm my soul: just get out there and hike!
